The MRC Pontiac council of mayors are set to meet in-person for the first time since March at 6:30 p.m. on Aug. 19 at the Campbell’s Bay RA Centre.

Warden Jane Toller told THE EQUITY that she thinks it will . . .

be important for residents, the mayors and herself to gather face to face, especially after the council took the month of July off, as they typically do.

Toller said that she will have updates on the Energy from Waste project, the Énergy Davidson project, the status of the obstetrics unit at the Pontiac Hospital, a call for artist projects and the introduction of FRR, which replaces the FARR program (Regional Aid and Recovery Fund).

She explained that the FRR will consist of funding available for business-related projects with 50 per cent of it dedicated to municipal projects and the other half towards non-profit work.

Toller also mentioned the delayed report on the MRC’s Vision 2030 plan, which was supposed to have consultations take place in the spring and summer.

“Now we’ll be starting this in, I believe, September and October,” she said. “We’ll be going to different municipalities and holding sort of ‘town halls’ and the public will be able to have input into our plans for the next ten years in the Pontiac. I’ll be chairing the meetings and very interested to hear what people have to say.”

For any residents who are unable to attend the Aug. 19 meeting, Toller said that those with questions can email her at prefete@mrcpontiac.qc.ca.
