Last Friday, the MRC Pontiac announced new funding for projects seeking to improve the quality of life for Pontiacers.

In a statement, the MRC said โ€œ$416,632 is available to local organizations for the implementation of sustainable development projects.โ€

Non-profits, municipalities, cooperatives, band councils and other public groups are encouraged to apply for project funding by setting up an appointment directly with the MRC Pontiacโ€™s economic development department.

The funding is provided by the Quebec governmentโ€™s Regions & Rurality Fund (FRR). Established in 2019, the fund seeks to provide over $1.3 billion in financing for regional development until 2024.

Last year, project funding went to a Virtual Golf simulator for the Shawville Curling Club; money also went to the Shawville Recreation Associationโ€™s playground rejuvenation project and to The Villa James Shaw retirement home project.

Interested parties must meet with the commissioner for economic development by no later than Sept. 14. The application deadline is 12 p.m., Sept. 15, 2021

Further information on funding can be located by visiting the MRCโ€™s webpage at http://www.mrcpontiac.qc.ca.
