MRC des Collines Police are advising residents to be mindful of speeding on Hwy. 148 after handing out fines as expensive as . . .
$1,233 on Aug. 30.
Sgt. Martin Fournel told THE EQUITY that the man was speeding at a rate of 152 km/h on the 90 km/h limit highway in the Municipality of Pontiac at around 11 a.m. on the Sunday morning when he was pulled over.
On that same day, police also stopped drivers who were notably speeding at rates of 129, 135 and 140 km/h.
Fournel said that drivers should be aware that going 50 km/h over the limit will cause police to double fines, demerit points and temporarily suspend licenses.
“It’s not rare, people are passing on double line or speeding,” he said. “The 148 is really straight and people are in a rush.”
