Local youngsters got the chance to experience mobile playground at the Picabou Child Care Centre in Campbell’s Bay on Monday morning.

The Grand Défi Pierre Lavoie “Garden of wonders” bus arrived at the daycare along with three enthusiastic animators, who guided the eager toddlers through gross motor activities in the well-decorated playground.

The bus was parked behind the daycare and kids were guided out in small groups.

“We have two home daycares coming and we have five groups that are in the daycare here participating,” explained Pauline Lanoix, a coordinator with the centre. She added that this is the group’s first time visiting the Pontiac.

The Grand Défi Pierre Lavoie is a movement to get children active and promote healthy lifestyles. In addition to the playtime on the bus, the animators lead the groups of children in singing and had a nutrition lesson at lunch about eating with your five senses.

Lanoix said that roughly 50 children participated in the day, and was thrilled to offer services like this in the community.

Around 50 tykes from local daycares got active on the Grand Defi Pierre Lavoie bus on Monday morning, taking full advantage of the tactile amenities on the interior of the vehicle.
