The Maisons des Jeunes du Pontiac (MDJ) held a fundraising event at Pontiac High School this past Friday.

A youth centre organization, the Maisons des Jeunes du Pontiac offers recreational and educational outreach services across the region.

Billed as a community gathering barbeque, the event drew in participants from throughout Shawville and the surrounding area.

Entrance to the event was free. Beverages, hot dogs and hamburgers were being sold by event organizers to raise money for Maisons des Jeunes programs.

“We see a large amount of youth in our youth centres, and we see the different struggles that they go through. The money we raise today will go a long way in allowing us to provide important services to them and their families,” said Désirée Tremblay-Giroux, coordinator of the Maisons des Jeunes du Pontiac.

In addition to the barbeque, the event featured face painting, homemade mini-putt courses and bouncy castles.
