Around 40 people gathered at Langford’s Grocery in Campbell’s Bay, as the store held its second . . .

annual Christmas supper.

According to Langford’s owner Mazhar Iqbal Dar, the event was a collaboration of Langford’s and Auton’Homme Pontiac.

Dar explained that the initiative was about giving back to the community by offering residents an opportunity to celebrate the holiday spirit with friends and family over a festive meal.

“We want to help,” he said.

Offering a wide array of tasty food, including freshly carved turkey, mashed potatoes with gravy and a vast assortment of sweets and pastries, there was enough food for everyone to enjoy and then some.

For those who couldn’t make it to the event, a group of volunteers delivered care packages of food directly to locals’ homes.

Along with a number of generous donations from the members of the community, most of the food on hand was provided by Langford’s and Auton’Homme Pontiac who provided four large turkeys.

“It was really nice of those people,” Dar said.

While there were too many to remember all the names, Dar said he was very thankful for everyone who volunteered to help out during the event as well as those who came out to eat or wish him a Merry Christmas.

“I’m grateful for them,” he said.

For Dar, the best part about hosting the dinner is that it brings the community together around something positive.

“I just want to bring a smile to peoples’ faces,” he said. “There are a lot of people alone. At least they get to come here and get together. I wish I could invite someone here just to see it. Some people came and just gave a hug. It was so nice.”

With a turnout similar to last year’s event, Dar was quite satisfied with how the dinner played out. After another successful one in the books, he hopes to makes things even more extravagant next year.

“It was good,” he said. “I hope we do better next year. It was nice. It was a good feeling. We’ll try to do something different next year.”
