MUNICIPALITY OF PONTIAC Sept. 6, 2020

MRC des Collines police were on the lookout for speeders in the Municipality of Pontiac over the Labour Day weekend, stopping one driver who clocked in at . . .

160 km/h.

The driver, a 20 year-old from Gatineau, was fined $1,380 and docked 14 demerit points as a result of the Sept. 6 offence, according to Sgt. Martin Fournel.

Fournel said that it is common to see people speeding all over Hwy. 148 due to its straight nature, especially on the double lane section near Luskville.

“[The] speed limit is 90 clicks no matter what,” he said.

In total, police gave out 35 violations for speeding and 65 for other infractions throughout the long weekend.

“We’re there, we’re aware and we’re getting lots of complaints actually, people who are living along the 148 or even in the morning with school buses because school’s started.”
