CALEB NICKERSON

SHAWVILLE Jan. 22, 2020

A local theatre company is looking for the public to nominate a female role model from Shawville to be . . .

honoured at a reading on Sunday night.

A staged reading of How Libby got married will take place at Pontiac High School on Jan. 26 at 2 p.m. The production, which is part of the Theatre Wakefield’s program “New works: from the page to the stage”, will be a live script reading with actors, as a way to provide constructive feedback on a piece before it’s taken to the stage.

Written by Vicki Williams, the play follows a Victorian woman who is trapped, “both metaphorically and literally, in a male-dominated society.”

The organizers of the event would like to honour an inspirational woman from each of the communities where the script reading will take place. They stressed that the process is not a competition, but rather a way to “uplift women in [the] community.” Admission is by donation.

Names must be sent to info@theatrewakefield.ca by Jan. 23. and should include the reasons why the person was nominated.
