CAMPBELL’S BAY

May 11, 2019

A good sized crowd gathered at the RA Hall in Campbell’s Bay on Saturday evening for the annual firemen’s ball. The evening serves as a time for the force to reflect on the past year as well as raise funds for the Campbell’s Bay-Litchfield Fire Department.

Natanya Dubeau and Martin Shea, the President and Vice-President of the Fire Department respectively, said that the evening would feature music from the local duo Backtrak, as well as award presentations from the two local mayors.

Noel Kelly was celebrated for 50 years on the department, and Fire Chief Kevin Kluke said that he retired in January, 50 years to the day of his start. Ken Lagarde was recognized for 30 years with the department.

The final award for the evening, one that is voted on by members of the department every year, is the Charlie Burke award for most dedicated firefighter. This year, the award went to Scott Tubman.

Kluke said that Tubman was deserving of the award because he stepped up to take officer’s training to become a lieutenant, which is a significant commitment.

“That probably had something to do with it,” Kluke said. “That’s a lot of time.”
