On Thursday, a handful of people gathered at Serenity Salon & Medi Spa in Shawville on March 29 for an open house to celebrate a new local business.
Sharron Cosgrove, a naturopath, life coach and holistic therapist, will be offering her services from a space on the upper floor of the building. The visitors snacked on food and sipped herbal tea while learning about the broad scope of her expertise.

Cosgrove explained that she is a practitioner of Ayurveda, a Hindu form of alternative medicine originating in southeast Asia.
“It’s a very old tradition, it comes from India,” she said.
Ayurveda offers a “presonalized approach to health” using various ancient techniques and herbal remedies. Cosgrove offers a wide range of services, including massage, beauty and therapeutic techniques as well as counselling.
She explained that she has been living in Thorne for several years now, and also works out of her clinic in Wakefield. She said that the new space will be great to treat clients in this area.
