Legions in the Pontiac are receiving a helping hand from MP Will Amos and the federal government amidst revenue losses from the pandemic, with the Quyon and Pontiac Legions receiving $11,432.30 and $10,000 respectively through the Veterans Organizations Emergency Support Fund.

Amos announced the funding in a Jan. 18 press release, explaining how it had been . . .

a top priority for him to assist the legions in his riding since meeting with them and hearing about how COVID-19 has been detrimental to their ability to support the community.

“The Veterans Organizations Emergency Support Fund will provide them with the resources they need to weather this difficult period, and I hope that Canadians will continue to support them as they always generously do,” Amos said in the release.

The emergency fund for veterans organizations is part of the federal government’s COVID-19 economic response plan, and the funding will help to sustain the two local Legions with operational costs.
