The descendants of Percy and Lola Dagg of Shawville gathered once again for a family reunion at the cottage of Evelyn (Dagg) Deavy on Rueckwald Lake over the August long weekend.
A total of 113 family members were able to take part in the festivities, some joining from nearby communities such as Shawville, Renfrew, and Cobden, while others travelled from as far away as Vancouver, Edmonton, and Summerside, P.E.I.
On Saturday, there were several crafts and projects for everyone to enjoy, including making friendship bracelets, vision boards, painting, and gratitude journals. Unfortunately, the rain showers limited some of the outdoor activities, but there was still plenty of fun to be had under the tent.
On Sunday evening, a delicious meal was catered by Café 349 of Shawville, complete with an outstanding selection of desserts. Needless to say, no one went home hungry!
Traditionally reunions have taken place every four or five years, but it had been 10 years since the last Dagg gathering. The COVID-19 pandemic put a halt to our plans for 2020, and somehow, those 10 years just slipped by. All in all, it was an excellent weekend filled with laughter, memories, friendship, and family. Here’s to the next Dagg family reunion — hopefully it won’t be another 10 years!
