The Shawville Curling and Squash Club held a kickoff party for the 2018/19 season on Friday night, giving the membership a sneak peek at the numerous changes that have taken place over the off-season.
President Jeff Russell explained that a host of improvements were made to the rink, from insulation to replacing the ceiling tiles and adding new LED lighting.

“Really, we’re just working on energy efficiency but it’s a facelift for the club at the same time,” he said.
In addition to the infrastructure upgrades, Russell added that there was still more to be done, from new doors to the rink, a new camera system and draught beer for the bar.
Russell said that the club is always on the lookout for more sponsors and members, and added that he hopes long-time members are pleasantly surprised by their spruced up club.
