Cannabis, stolen property uncovered in Mansfield

Police say a tip led them to carry out searches on multiple properties in Mansfield on May 28 that turned up several stolen off-road vehicles and also a sizable amount of cannabis.

Four properties on . . .

chemin du Lac de la Truite were raided and police seized two side-by-sides, two snowmobiles, a motocross bike and a 25 ft trailer, as well as two kilos of cannabis and 16 plants.

The vehicles were stolen in the MRC Pontiac between January and April of this year. Police spokesman Sgt. Marc Tessier said that all the vehicles were accounted for and their owners would be contacted shortly.

A 41-year-old woman from Mansfield was arrested in connection with the crimes the previous day, but was released with a promise to appear at the Campbell’s Bay courthouse at a later date, where she could face charges of the possession and production of narcotics with the intent to traffic.

Tessier added that police were still going after several other suspects implicated in the crimes.

“The investigation is still ongoing and we are going to arrest a couple more people in the days to come,” he said.
