Sûreté du Québec (SQ) police arrested a man in connection with the trafficking of narcotics after searching a residence in Fort Coulonge on Mar. 13.
A statement from the police says after receiving a tip from the public, officers raided a Colton Street residence, seizing more than 100 methamphetamine tablets, close to 18 g of cocaine, more than $1,200 in cash, two prohibited weapons, and equipment destined to traffic narcotics.
The accused, a 26-year-old man from Fort Coulonge, was arrested by police then released under promise to appear in court.
He will appear in front of a judge at a future date at Campbell’s Bay court, and could face charges of possession of narcotics with the goal of trafficking them, and possession of a prohibited weapon.
*The original story published in the Mar. 18 issue of THE EQUITY incorrectly identified the prohibited weapons as firearms. A correction will be run in our Mar. 26 issue.
