On Thursday afternoon, friends, listeners and supporters came out to celebrate local community radio station CHIP 101.9 FM.
CHIP is a bilingual station that airs a wide variety of journalism and entertainment, from the off-the-wall thrill-ride “The Gong Show”, to the hard-hitting “Pontiac Mag”, or everyone’s favourite: Mega Bingo.
Station manager François Carrier explained that this programming season he was planning to put more of an emphasis on Pontiac news.

“More local information, that’s really the objective here,” he explained.
In addition, he added that the station would be continuing to broadcast Montreal Canadiens games through an agreement with Cogeco.
New this year, they will also be airing Cogeco international and national news, Monday to Friday. Times are 5:30, 6:30, 7:30, 8:30, 10:00, 1 p.m., 2 p.m., 4:30 p.m., 5:30 p.m., and 6:30 p.m.
Carrier added that host Eric O’Brien has returned and will be the voice of English programming for the station.
Editor’s note: the author is a co-host on The Gong Show.
