On Thursday evening, the Pontiac Chamber of Commerce met at the Little Red Wagon Winery in Clarendon to approve . . .

their financials for the previous year and adjust some bylaws.

After some networking over hors d’euvres and wine, accompanied by music from Simon Clarke, the group got down to business.

Since they failed to achieve quorum at the meeting in June, chamber treasurer Larry Coleman went over the financial statements from March. He noted that their balance sheet is in good shape, with a small excess of revenue over expenses.

“We controlled expenses really well,” he said. “We try to spend most of our dollars as a non-profit.”

The chamber also altered some of their bylaws to lower the minimum number of directors required for the board from eight to six, and changed the mandatory meetings from 10 times a year to as many times as the board deems necessary.

Coleman also bid adieu to outgoing chamber President Mireille Alary, who announced that she would not be renewing her mandate.

“We all know Mireille is not coming back as president next year, but we have to acknowledge her achievements over the last five years,” he said. “She’s worked tirelessly every month for the benefit of the Pontiac, the benefit of the chamber. We all owe her a great thank you for the job well done.”

Alary thanked the group and encouraged the members present to get involved. She spoke about the benefits that the group brings not only to the member businesses, but to the region as a whole.

“I’m proud of what we are achieving in the Pontiac,” she said. “Your chamber is looking for your help.”
