Greenwood’s music had couples grooving to the upbeat tunes, and slow dancing to the softer ones.

Couples were slow-dancing and grooving to the music at the Bryson Lions Hall on Saturday night for an old-time dance put on by the club.

The band Greenwood entertained several dozen guests all night long with slow and fast numbers alike.

Lions Club member Betty Leach said the turnout is not quite the same as it used to be in past years when the club held more regular dances.

“We used to have them every two weeks,” she said, adding that the club is trying to diversify its offerings including more regular breakfasts.

Lions Club president Eric Harrington told THE EQUITY in February that the club is looking to grow again after a period of relative stagnation.

“The Lions Club is back, and we’re looking for members, we’re trying to revitalize the club, and we really want to start doing community events again,” he said at the time.

Vice-president Lise Dagenais said the club is always looking for members and volunteers, for events such as the annual cipaille supper, which happens in August.

Correction: This story originally attributed the quote about the frequency of dances to Marilyn Tanguay. In fact, Marilyn Tanguay is not a member of the Bryson Lions. The quote should have been attributed to Betty Leach. THE EQUITY apologizes for this error.
