A small fire closed the Chenaux Bridge in Portage du Fort for a few hours early on Nov. 17. According to MTQ communications officer Marie Chantal Baguia, the blaze was caused by material used in the work on the bridge and she said that it caused no injuries and only minor damage. The fire was called in at 4:30 a.m. and was quickly under control, but an engineer was required to inspect the structure before it could be re-opened to traffic, which didn’t take place until 9:30 a.m.
