Brauwerk Hoffman was full of people looking to exercise their mental muscle during the brewery’s trivia night on Saturday.
The event featured . . .
questions from several different categories including movies, history, science and technology, TV theme songs, sports, the Ottawa Valley and – of course – beer history.
This was the first time the brewery hosted a trivia night and if the turnout was any indication, it looks like it will be the first of many.
“We sold out,” said organizer Portia Hoffman.
She said that not only did the event get a great response by folks buying tickets, but a few stragglers showed up hoping to get in on the action at the last minute.
Hoffman said that the event didn’t just attract people from all over the Pontiac, but a few folks made the trip from Pembroke to take part.
The winning team – appropriately named the Smarty Pints – took home first place which came with the prize of free beer.
The second-place team – not-quite-as-appropriately named Friends – took home a basket of beer goodies and was made up of the previously mentioned stragglers. Hoffman said that although the team started the night as perfect strangers, by the end of the night the team name fit perfectly.
Hoffman said that even though people are beginning to stir from their winter hibernations, the event’s turnout was a surprise.
“We didn’t expect the turnout to be like this,” Hoffman said. “But we wanted to offer something during this blah season.”
