While her fellow volunteers focus on their various projects, one member of the Pontiac Archives is looking for the public’s help to research . . .

abandoned villages in the Pontiac region.

Venetia Crawford said that she began looking into the many former hamlets and four-corners that dotted the region only decades ago out of curiosity.

“It came about because I reached the end of one project and needed a new project and I wanted something that was going to draw people to the archives,” she said.

Crawford hopes to hear stories from people in the community that have memories of places like Tancredia, Thornby or Jingletown. When Crawford gathers sufficient information about the hamlets she will publish a map to display at the archives.

“My goal is just to bring people here and see what they’ve got,” she said.
