SHAWVILLE Dec. 6-11, 2019

The obstetrics unit at the Pontiac Community Hospital had another breach in service over the weekend, the tenth . . .

such interruption since September. According to a press release put out by the Centre integré de santé et services sociaux de l’Outaouais (CISSSO), the interruption was initially supposed to last from 4 p.m. on Friday Dec. 6 to 4 p.m. on Monday Dec. 9. On Monday, CISSSO put out another press release announcing that the interruption would be extended to 8 a.m. on Wednesday Dec. 11.

There are only 5 nurses currently working in the unit, which normally has a staff of 12. CISSSO has been struggling to fill positions in obstetrics and other departments at PCH for quite some time, and was forced to bring in a team of midwives at the 11th hour in August to prevent a month-long break in services.
