A visit from Mickey and Minnie

Mickey and Minnie Mouse made an appearance at the Pontiac Community Hospital on Sunday to visit long-time hospital worker Kim Wittig, who is laid up with a broken ankle, and bring her a gift. The special surprise was organized by Wittig’s co-workers Lena Lacroix, Lisa Lacroix and Mandy Coyne-Hill, the latter two being the ones that donned the larger than life costumes.

Two mice were spotted at the Pontiac Community Hospital (PCH) on Sunday, but it was no cause for alarm, just . . .

two Disney characters visiting an injured employee.

Two nurses decked out like the iconic Mickey and Minnie Mouse arrived to cheer up Kim Wittig, a long-time employee at PCH who recently broke her ankle and has been on the mend.

“We went out west for travels this summer and on our second day in Alberta, she broke her ankle at the Hoodoos,” explained Wittig’s sister Ingrid. “It was serious enough that she needed surgery.”

Kim has worked as an office assistant at the hospital for the last 28 years, delivering mail, filing paperwork and doing odd jobs. Ingrid explained that one of her colleagues, Lena Lacroix, organized the visit from the two cartoon characters, played by nurses Lisa Lacroix and Mandy Coyne-Hill.

“She was very pleasantly surprised because they brought her a little gift,” Ingrid said. “It made her day. She’s been an employee for 28 years, so it’s pretty special that they treat her like a VIP.”
