I trust everyone had a wonderful Labour Day weekend. Many of us spent time at the Shawville Fair, despite some cold nights and rain on Sunday and Monday. It was, once again a terrific fair weekend with great music, great friends and fun for the whole family. Kudos to the organizers, volunteers, exhibitors, and everyone who entered in the handicrafts, 4-H competitions, truck pull, demolition derby, etc. It takes many hands to pull of an event of this size and you all deserve a big round of applause.

Congratulations to Bailey Henderson and Kyle Harris, who welcomed a beautiful baby girl named Isla on Aug. 30. I hear Grandma Janice Wallace is just tickled pink.
Best wishes also to Jen Derouin and Mathieu Fauteux, as well as big brother Liam, as they welcomed a baby girl on Sep. 2. They named her Aurora, and she is a granddaughter for Christine and Sid Derouin.
Sympathy is extended to the Lavigne family on the passing of their matriarch, Claire Lavigne on Aug. 27. Our thoughts and prayers are with you.
Birthday wishes are going out to Adam Johnston and Glenna Campbell both celebrating on Sept. 7. Happy birthday to my little buddy Hayden Hobbs who is turning three on Sept. 9, as well as to my brother Luke Young on Sept. 10, and my cousin Donna Kennedy on Sept. 11. Happy days to everyone celebrating this week.
On Sunday afternoon, we attended Theatre Wakefield’s production of “A Summer A Fair” at the Women’s Institute/Bert Kennedy Hall in Quyon. It was truly wonderful. The music was great, the cast was funny and we learned a bit about small-town Quebec history along the way. Seeing my nephew Caden Provost and his cousin Kane Flemming join in as cows was the icing on the cake. Thank you to Kate Aley for helping to bring this production to our area.
