What a picture perfect weekend. The weather was great for our summer festival. The attendance was good and it all went off without a hitch. The crowd seemed to enjoy everything we had to offer.
The children enjoyed the entertainment that was planned for them. Raymond and Rose Shea and their family did a marvellous job of the food concession, as usual and everything was delicious.

Tim Ferrigan and Maurice Beauregard, the two main organizers, did their job very well and next week I will be able to tell you the amount raised for our downtown project. Plenty of volunteers gave their time and it is appreciated. There were lots of good ball games.
Our little ones are getting very good at T-Ball and they keep the crowd entertained. The tournament winners were first place The Sons of Pitch, Shane Kluke’s team and they donated $100 back to the fund. Second place was the Corriveau Family and they donated back the total prize money of $250. That was great sportsmanship and we really appreciate it.
We also had the inauguration of the Mural Park on Saturday morning with dignitaries present from different levels of government to cut the red ribbon, so the new park is ready to be enjoyed by all.
Sunday at noon Auberge Mont Blanc was abuzz with former parishioners of Fr. Basil Tanguay. A farewell reception was held for him on the occasion of his retirement. Well over 200 people were on hand to wish him the best and say goodbye. He will be sorely missed by so many of us for his gift of speech, his sense of humour and his willingness to always make himself available when a special occasion or a sad one presented itself. He always knew exactly what to say, to make you happy or to comfort you. We sure thank him for his 13 years spent here at St. John’s in Campbell’s Bay.
Ken Morin was out and about on Sunday with his family and he is doing better.
Our congratulations go out to Devin Hearty and Danica Graveline who were married on Saturday in Vinton. They were married by the newly ordained priest Fr. Justin Bertrand. Devin is the grandson of Remi and Marion Paré.
Well, that about wraps up what I had to say except to wish everyone celebrating a happy birthday and or a happy anniversary and we hope everyone is healthy and happy.
It does pay to whine. Merlin Brown did come by my shop with a bag of his beautiful tomatoes. I don’t know how he does it, even in this kind of summer, but they are delicious.
