Zion Lutheran Church held their annual memorial church service and supper on Sunday night.
Part of the festivities involved decorating the cemetery as many parishioners placed flowers on the graves of loved ones.
The event is held every August long weekend and raises funds for the church. As far as anyone can remember, the event goes back more than 40 years.
More than 100 people came out to dine on all sorts of delectable meals prepared by upwards of 25 volunteers at the church.
It featured a hot and cold buffet for attendees to dine on, along with some delicious homemade pies which were made using an assembly line to get them all prepared.
The group served more than 300 meals throughout the night, which led to some logistical challenges.
“It was a continuous lineup,” said Zion Lutheran treasurer Roy Bretzlaff. “The basement can seat about 100 people, so people would have to eat and then move and let somebody else eat.”
“A lot of the people who came out were older members,” Bretzlaff said. “But yesterday we had a lot of young people helping, which was really good.”
