Dear Editor,
Glad to see that you’re back at THE EQUITY, Caleb. As a resident of Calumet Island during your last stint with this newspaper, I very much appreciated your thorough coverage of the trials and tribulations our dear municipal government was going through at the time. It certainly encouraged me to pay attention and try to pick the best candidates, the next chance I had to vote. Obviously, other ratepayers felt the same way and now we have a really good group of people in charge. With the support of council, our new mayor has worked hard for the last four years to get things back on track. An example of one decision that was much appreciated: council considered the huge rise in property valuations and rolled back the mill rate as much as possible, keeping our tax bill manageable. And I really like your much-needed new column covering the highlights of provincial news.
