Dear Pierre Poilievre,
It was only a few short months ago that you were the heir apparent to becoming the next prime minister of Canada. Oh, those crafty Liberals. They, ethically or not, did find a way to delay the inevitable, retrench, and look where we are now.
Your two-legged platform of “axe the tax” and Trudeau bashing has been cut right out from under you.
You and your team need a new strategy. First, stop Trudeau bashing. He is no longer a factor. People are expecting something new from you.
Go after the Liberal commitment to cut the carbon tax. When will they do it? What will they replace it with?
And will they rescind the the carbon tax levies that have been applied to date? Drill down for specifics. Then tell the Canadian people exactly what you will do to make their lives better. A complete removal of all carbon taxes to date will have a huge impact on Canadian pocketbooks.
Defunding the CBC: you better throw this idea out the window because it will cost you dearly at the ballot box.
Pipelines: we have pipe available; start welding. Not all refined oil goes into fuel tanks to power vehicles.
There are thousands of day-to-day products we use made from the by-products of refined petroleum. We have the resources, let us get them to market.
The Capital Gains Tax: the recent adjustment to this tax by the Liberals was nothing but a tax grab of low-hanging fruit. How would you and your party make it more palatable?
Here is a huge one Pierre. What is your commitment to meeting our NATO commitment and when? What is your commitment to rebuilding our armed forces, with people power and equipment?
I could offer up more. But it would be refreshing to have a politician stand before the people with a message of truth and honesty . . . I cannot believe that I just put truth and honesty in the same sentence to describe a politician.
Ken Bernard, Bristol
