I was at the side of my house attacking the weeds recently. I am trying to discourage their growth, even though it’s fall. I think that will give the plants I want growing a better chance to take over.
It got me thinking. It seems to be so hard to discourage weeds, but very easy to discourage people. Sometimes all it takes is a thoughtless word and a person is ready to walk away or give up or get silent. I realize that I need to be careful what I say and as the verse says ‘be quick to listen and slow to speak.’
Life can be difficult. When we stop and think we have a better opportunity to help and not hurt.
