The Zion Lutheran Church hosted its annual grave decoration and dinner on August 6 at the small church in Schwartz. The service was led by Pastor Jim Goos and in his sermon he recognized congregation members who had passed in the preceding year while inviting the congregation outside to honour the memories of many more. Afterward, more than 250 plates were served in the church basement to a variety of church usuals as well as to many more community members. As is the case with almost all such community events, it would not have been possible without the dedication of a large number of volunteers. Event head Donna Zacharias extended her gratitude to everyone who helped behind the scenes, in the kitchen or on the floor, and to everyone who attended, noting that the fundraiser is a key event in their annual agenda.
