The MRC des Collines-de-l’Outaouais, in conjunction with the MRC’s police force, Sécurité Publique, has launched a boat safety campaign across its territory.

“The campaign aims to raise awareness among boaters and users of non-motorized watercraft to know their role on bodies of water in order to improve the coexistence of different boats on our lakes and rivers, but also to better understand the rules of use as well as the necessary equipment to have during a ride on the water,” an MRC des Collines-de-l’Outaouais press release, translated into English, reads.

The Sécurité Publique of the MRC des Collines-de-l’Outaouais has installed several boating safety posters adjacent to waterways throughout its territory. Two are in the Municipality of Pontiac, one at Tremblay Beach in Luskville and the other at the public pier in Quyon.

Each boating safety poster contains a QR code that, if scanned with a smartphone camera, will take the user to a webpage containing relevant boat safety information.

As of now, both the posted signage and the page accessed through its accompanying QR code are in French only.
