How many points are on the maple leaf featured on the Canadian flag? What is the common 4-letter term for an ordinary hexahedron? How many famous men with the first name John can you identify? These were just some of the questions during the Shawville Lions Club’s trivia night held at the Shawville Arena last Saturday.
The competition saw teams of six play to raise money for the club.
“This is the first time we’ve ( the Shawville Lions Club) run a trivia night. I’ve been . . .
to a couple in the area that someone else was running, and I just thought it’d be a good idea to have one here because I’ve never been to one in Shawville,” said John Shepley, who organized the event for the Lion’s Club.
Amy Taylor of Shawville was trivia master for the event.
“I just love trivia,” said Taylor. “I played in trivia leagues in the city, I’ve played trivia around here and I used to run the league at the curling rink. The Lions Club asked me if I would put some questions together for them, so I said yes.”
The categories of trivia included general knowledge, Canadiana, sports, science, and a photo round. The event cost $72 to register a team.
The organizers expect more trivia games to be held in the near future.
“I’m sure this isn’t a one-time thing. So come on out,” concluded Taylor.
