Luskville April 8, 2023

Infinity Farm gathered several friends and like-minded spirits on Saturday April 8 and together they hosted an open house full of excitement, rural-goodness and artistic flair. While the interventions of Mother Nature in the form of a widespread power outage may have impacted the larger landscape of the event, some 200 or so attendees still found their way to the picturesque location at the base of the escarpment in Luskville, many having dodged fallen trees and wires along the way.

Founding partners in the Luskville Farm Hop initiative, Victoria and Robert have been stewards of Infinity Farm since 2018 and feel to this day that they are living a dream that they have been fortunate enough to have made real. Their menagerie has . . .

grown over the years and now includes several species of chicken, many sheep with their spring lambs, horses, alpacas, ducks, cats and dogs. It is a lively wonder of a space and a great place for a spring kick-off event just weeks ahead of the first Farm Hop of 2023 on May 6.

Infinity Farm took the opportunity to showcase their startling variety and array of goods ranging from pine-infused cleaning products and hand-made cards, to knit scarves of alpaca fibre and colourful dryer balls. At the same time, they were happy to provide tours of the farm and welcomed the assistance of neighbours Isabel and Elena Holt in guiding guests around the barnyard as well as in bringing some of the animals out on parade.

Of particular popularity were the five Infinity Farm prepared kits consisting of a cage, bedding, lighting, food, water and, most importantly, baby chicks. These kits were available for rent and it didn’t take long before all were seen heading out the laneway in the hands of young ladies like Amielya and Fiona, daughters of Bonnie and Connor Burlton-Smith, who were especially happy at their haul having worked hard in the weeks prior in order to cover the rent, as it were.

Artists in attendance included open-house veterans Katharine Fletcher, Michael Peterson and Lisa Brunetta as well as new comers Chantal Chrétien and Julie Robert. Each had ample representation of their craft as well as the requisite passion required to convey the spirit of their journey and output to the gathered masses.

Rounding out the vendor mix was Marc Vinette, a representative of Sealand Quality Foods, who brought a bit of fast-talking engagement along with his van full of myriad high-quality and frozen products for sale ranging from Norwegian salmon to Albertan beef. His sample table was a “must-stop” on the farm tour, with some stopping perhaps for even a second or third time.

Also in attendance, as a neighbour to Infinity Farm, was Stanislas Rochat, an entrepreneur from just down the road who is also in the process of bringing a dream to life: Agape Gardens. Stay tuned as he aligns his offerings, opens his business, and perhaps you’ll even see him on the Farm Hop come May.

This was an open house with a soft sell and a bountiful energy, and, if taken as representative of the community within which we live, we are in good hands.
