Director General of the Western Quebec School Board, Mike Dubeau, has advised the Council of Commissioners that he will be retiring. In a statement made available by the school board, acting chairman, Wayne Daly, stated that after 6 years of serving as the Director General, Dubeau will be moving on from the position.
Dubeau started his career working as a teacher for what was then known as the Pontiac School Board. After becoming a school administrator in 1998, he transferred to board level administrator in 2008. Throughout his career, Dubeau served in numerous senior administrator positions including Director of Education, Director of Technology and Director of Human Resources. As Director General, Dubeau also oversaw the Transportation and School Organization departments
“As Director General, Mr. Dubeau has been responsible for developing the school board’s key strategic directions and objectives and, with the senior administration team, ensured their implementation through guidance and support,” Daly wrote. “I would like to thank Mr. Dubeau for his commitment and dedication to the school board, to our students and to our communities.”
According to Daly, to ensure a proficient transitional period, the Western Quebec School Board will be seeking candidates to fill the Director General role by the end of June 2023.
