The Bristol Community Association hosted a winter carnival this past weekend that boasted events for all ages.
On Saturday, community members were invited to the Jack Graham Community Centre for a day of winter activities including snowshoeing, sliding and snowman building competitions. The skating rink was also open for both hockey and general enjoyment.
On Sunday, the association organized a euchre tournament and spaghetti supper event. The Euchre Tournament took place between 2:00 and 4:15 in the afternoon and, according to Bristol Community Association President Anne McConnell, had 34 participants.
When asked if there were some competitive card players in the crowd, McConnell replied “oh yeah,” with a laugh. While the event attracted many who pride themselves on their euchre abilities, McConnell maintained that it was an event that was being enjoyed by all skill levels.
“We got everybody involved and that’s what we want, just a fun day,” she said.
After the tournament had concluded, attendees enjoyed a spaghetti supper that included salads, garlic bread and desert. The meal was served between 4:30 and 6:00 in the evening.
“Were just trying to get the community together again,” said McConnell “and everybody looks like they are having a great time.”
