Holding their first celebration since covid the Johnson Lake community enjoyed flotillas and fireworks on the lake.

On July 30 community members decorated their cottages and boats to compete for different prizes. The event was organized by the Johnson Lake Property Association (JLPA) which were able to hold its events due to . . .

sponsorships from the Ladysmith Oktoberfest for their donation towards the fireworks.

“It was fun to be able to celebrate once again and make new cottage memories,” said Marguerite Born, the secretary.

The fireworks were held on Karen and Jim McIsaac’s property.

The community really appreciated them for lending their beach and allowing residents to enjoy the fireworks from their property.

Born also wanted to give a special shout out to Danny Saroka and Cathy York Sloan for their work and support in making the celebration a success.

The JLPA highlighted that the prize donations came from Art and Marion Villeneuve, Cathy and Todd Sloan, Shanna Laporte, Donny Hodgins, Greg Bretzlaff and Ernie Pasch.

“JLPA would like to thank the Municipality of Thorne and the Fire Chief and his crew for their support,” said Born
