After a successful first year, the Bryson Recreational Association organized their second Boat Poker Run.

On July 16, boaters with family and friends set out to win the best hand in poker. Around 72 boaters went from Bryson to Fort-Coulonge at different locations to pick up a card in an envelope and at . . .

the last location when it was opened up the best hand won.

The event is also a fundraiser, in 2019 when it was first planned the R.A raised $2,000 that went directly to their new outdoor rink, said organizer Chantal Gravelle. This year they were able to raise $2,100 and with that money they are hoping to add benches and sun shades to the Bryson recreational park.

The idea came from Gravelle’s husband after coming back from an R.A meeting discussing how else they can raise money for their rink “I thought it was a great idea and right away started planning,” said Gravelle.

Gravelle wanted to thank the volunteers who helped out during the day wanted to give a speacial shout out to Meghan Griffin while noting that it was a team effort.

The prizes and winners from the 2022 boat poker run were, Danika Newberry in first place with four-of-a-kind, who won $300, in second place Sylvie Laporte, with a full house won $50. They also did a 50/50 draw and the money was donated back by Shawn Smith.

At the Bryson stop Chantal Lance and Vicky Lance were greeting boaters and helping anyone buying tickets during the event.
