A special sitting of the Council of Mayors of the MRC Pontiac was called to vote on a single issue, listed as a human resource file, last Thursday.
Prior to the public vote at 7 p.m. there was a . . .
long in-camera portion of the meeting closed to the public and the media.
The language of the resolution stated: “It is resolved to commit $19,525 plus taxes and expenses for human resources training.”
The issue or individual(s) the human resources training is meant to address remains undisclosed.
Warden of the MRC Pontiac Jane Toller said the issue is confidential.
“So, there’s a need for some training in the MRC right now that will make a difference,” said Toller. “I just don’t think it’s a wise idea to say where the training is going at this point.”
Toller said the training will be performed by an outside party and the $19,525 will go to pay the estimated hourly rate of the trainers.
When asked why the issue couldn’t wait for the next scheduled MRC meeting in August, Toller said: “Well, it’s actually good timing. Because in the month of July we have less meetings so there’s more time for training.”
“At some point at a future date I would probably be able to give you more information, but today it would not be appropriate,’’ concluded Toller about the issue.
