The Onslow Elementary School in Quyon celebrated their grade six students’ graduation on June 21. Ralph Mason, Principal of the school, opened up by congratulating the class and acknowledging their resilience.
“This group over the last seven . . .
years has experienced such massive changes in schooling and in our climate. Whether that was peak power outages, they survived covid and here they are today as a testament to the will and the strength of each and every individual student to learn. I remember meeting them back in grade three. When I first arrived at the school they were a chatty group that they still are,” said Mason.
The kid’s graduation was held at the school gym, with friends and family in the audience. The students received awards for their achievements and their teachers spoke to them wishing them good luck in moving on to a new school next year and how they will be missed.
Their teacher Jennifer Davis said, “They have been waiting for this moment since I started. This is a lot of anticipation and build up and I’m just really proud of how far they’ve come.”
“So I have no doubt that you will be successful and it’s my honour to have been your principle. I’m sure, wherever I am in the future, I’ll be hearing really good stories about you guys,” said Mason.
