The Coopérative Aventure Hélian held the grand opening of six new axe throwing lanes in Mansfield-et-Pontefract on Sunday.

The idea of the axe throwing centre was . . .

introduced by the non-profit as a way to help fund the nearby Pont Blanc Beach, which is also the responsibility of the cooperative, according to Guillaume Harvey president and director general of the organization.

The axe throwing centre joins the cooperative’s other business ventures like a lazy river raft, a campground and boat/equipment rentals, all of which help fund the free beach.

The axe throwing centre is off to a strong start, with this weekend already booked, according to Guillaume. The centre will be open to the public on the weekend, and during the week the cooperative will hold the space for corporate clients.

The centre was opened with the help of the municipalities of Mansfield-et-Pontefract and Fort-Colounge, Tourism Pontiac and the SADQ, among other groups.

Louis Harvey, Guillaume’s father, said that he hoped the new activity would keep locals in the area.

He said the project is a great example of social development and noted the turnout at the grand opening represents the success of the cooperative.

You can book a lane for up to six people for one hour for $96 on the Pont Blanc Beach’s website. Residents of Mansfield-et-Pontefract get a discount to recognize the municipality’s help in funding the centre
