Last Saturday, Les Blés d’Or de Luskville held the first installment of this year’s Pontiac Market.
The market was created four years ago to raise funds for the . . .
organization’s other events such as dances, suppers and bingo nights.
“It’s a good way to bring everybody together that’s in our municipality and in the surrounding areas,” said Les Blés d’Or de Luskville’s vice president, Jennifer Larose.
Crafts, handmade jewelry and baked goods were all for sale across about a dozen vendor tables.
Musician Wayne Johnson created a great acoustic ambiance for the vendors and guests in attendance.
Belsher’s table had an impressive assortment of cookies, pies, jellies and relish for purchase.
“I do this a couple times a year, I enjoy doing it,” she said. “It’s a great way to get out to meet the community.”
Across from Belsher’s table, Algonquin College animation professor, Stephen Young, had a display of artwork from the group paint nights that he hosts.
“I decided to get out of the house and do paint nights,” he said. “I did it a few times with my family because I just love teaching. The idea was instead of people coming to me, I made it like a paint night tupperware party.”
A few tables down, Annette Fabien had a display decorated with jewelry she had created over the past year. “It’s my pastime,” she said. “I love doing it.”
The Pontiac Market is scheduled for the first Saturday of each month at the Luskville Community Centre from May until November.
