After a fun-packed Easter egg hunt, three lucky winners claimed their prizes at Boutique Shawville Shooz.
The egg hunt was organized by the Shop Shawville committee. Cathy and William Bastien, members of the committee, spearheaded the event. The goal was to get foot traffic into the stores after what has felt like a hiatus for local businesses. The . . .
organizers felt it was a good opportunity to remind people of the business in town in a fun way. “So there’s kind of a lull and we thought, well if we do this now it lines up with Easter which is great, but it gets people going places and it gets people into the businesses,” said William.
Around 20 people participated in the hunt and it was open to people of all ages. It also aimed to get people in the stores without them necessarily feeling pressured to buy anything, but rather show them what the different businesses had to offer, explained William.
“I liked that it was close together so you didn’t have to drive to do the scavenger hunt, you could just let the kids go on the sidewalk,” said Gabrielle Keller, first prize winner.
Keller, who won two free weekend passes to the Shawville Fair, said she’s excited to use them as she and her friends have already started planning for it.
One of the stops was at Boutique Shawville Shooz. Jill McBane, the owner of the shoe shop highlighted that any foot traffic is great traffic to the store. “I think people come in that maybe haven’t been in here haven’t seen what I have so we’re hoping that they see what we have to offer and we hope to promote a little business out of this as well,” she said
Cathy explained that Shop Shawville operates around bringing awareness to local stores, “we try to promote businesses within Shawville, and draw attention to them and what’s here in the town for people because a lot of people don’t even know what they sell, what’s available and who sells it.”
