On Sunday, the St. John Evangelist Catholic Church in Campbell’s Bay celebrated the 100th anniversary of their Catholic Women’s League.

The first Catholic Women’s League was established in . . .

Edmonton in 1912, with St. John Evangelist’s chapter formed 10 years later in 1922.

Some of the Catholic Women’s League’s many roles include fundraising, cheering up the sick and comforting families who have recently lost a loved one.

Diane Dillon’s mother, Eileen Morin, who recently passed away, was the Catholic Women’s League’s most senior member with 70 years of service. “She’d be so, so honoured,” said Dillon. “She was a very, very proud CWL member.”
