On March 19, at 8:16 p.m., the MRC des Collines responded to a fatal accident near 1975 Lac-des-Loups Road north of Quyon. The victim was confirmed by police officials to be Guillaume Breton, 39, father of two.
The accident happened after Breton pulled over to help a . . .
stranded motorist. Breton was outside his truck when he was struck by an on-coming vehicle.
Breton was pronounced dead at the scene by the police.
The driver who hit the victim, a 34-year-old male, was not under the influence which is being ruled out as the cause of the accident, according to Sergeant Martin Fournel,
Fournel told THE EQUITY that the investigation by the police is still underway, and they are still working to collect more details of what happened. The police are also conducting forensic tests which is common practice to rule out any other suspicions they might have.
Fournel strongly advised that in situations such as these, people should be safe and err on the side of caution by calling professional tow trucks and police rather than putting themselves in danger.
A family friend, Yannick Nadon organized a GoFundMe to support the family. It can be found at https://www.gofundme.com/f/amwdf-help-our-friend-and-her-children
