On March 15, an early morning crime spree along Hwy 148 resulted in severe property damage for two gas stations and a residential property.
At approximately 3:30 a.m., the Ultramar gas station in Bryson was broken into.
The suspect was able to get . . .
inside after smashing the front door and window. John Zhang, the station’s owner, said that only “a few cartons of cigarettes” were stolen.
Shawville’s J&J Grocery had their front door shattered with a fire extinguisher at approximately 4 a.m. The suspect initially tried to pump gas, but after realizing that the pumps had been shut off, decided to break into the station.
According to Janet Rogers, the owner of J&J Grocery, no money was stolen. “I don’t know why he came in,” said Rogers. “All he took was a lighter.” Although, a few newspapers were also taken by the suspect.
Janet has already replaced the front door, but said that it cost her a few hundred dollars.
Beside Luskville’s Stinson gas station is a small commercial outlet with apartments on its second story.
At 4:30 a.m., the suspect stopped at the residence and smashed its front door with a crowbar.
The building’s owner, Jonathan St-Louis, was alerted by one of his tenants about an hour later that their entrance had been damaged.
Upon arrival, St-Louis found the crowbar and the newspapers from J&J Grocery at the entrance. “I think he was on drugs,” said St. Louis.
Marc Tessier, a spokesperson for the MRC Pontiac Police Department, stated, “We’re looking into it, but there have been no arrests for now.”
