Our deepest sympathy goes out to the family and friends of Nancy Sammon who passed away on May 14 at the age of 59.

We would also like to send our condolences out to . . .

Cheryl Mayhew and her husband Dennis on the loss of Dennis’ father, Shawn O’Connor. He passed away on May 15 at the age of 73.

Soon we will get our grocery/convenience store back in operation. The new name is Mike Dean Marche Locale and Dean’s Snack Shack. This is situated on the highway at the flashing lights in Campbell’s Bay. We wish him the best in this new business. I know they have been renovating for quite a while so it will be interesting to see what they’ve done.

I got a call from Jim Stewart of Bryson last week and he told me that his hummingbird came back on May 10. Theresa Davidson told me hers came back on May 12 in Campbell’s Bay and mine finally showed up on May 13 in Vinton and he brought along a few friends. They are so cute to watch especially the little aggressive ones who constantly watch the feeder and chase everybody away.

I have a little log house that I made and it’s sitting outside in the garage on the top shelf. This robin decided to build its nest on the front porch of this little house. I went up today just to take a picture and I found four babies in the nest. They already have their feathers and I’m assuming will soon be ready for takeoff. What a cute little family.

Last Thursday, Karen Stevenson came over to play bingo with me and she won the $1,000 for the Knights of Columbus Bingo on CHIP Radio. She needed B13 and she won on May 13. It’s her birthday on May 22 and she’s turning 60 so I thought it was a great birthday present for her. Great timing.

This coming week is supposed to bring wonderful temperatures of 27 and 28 degrees with sunshine. With that comes the black flies and mosquitoes. So we will soon have something else to complain about. Usually around my place the mosquitoes only come out around 8 p.m. and same with the blackflies so it’s not too bad. But as soon as you start digging in the garden the blackflies attack you.

I would like to wish the following people a very happy birthday: Lise Larivière, and Brian Hewitson on May 19, to John Lawn on May 20, to Noëlla Crawford and Samantha Corriveau on May 21, to Dennis Hearty, Karen Stevenson, Melanie Kluke, Danny O’Brien, Casey Belanger, and Ann Grace on May 22.

Happy anniversary wishes go out to Lynn and Serge Jolin and Terry and Marianne Frost on May 19, to Erin and Mark Horner on May 21, to Nancy and Joe Bertrand and Shelly and Carl Davidson on May 24.

This is the May long weekend and if everyone can just restrain themselves for another month or so we just might be able to overcome this pandemic. I know that I really want to be with my family and they all have been vaccinated but we still can’t visit due to restrictions. Do your part please. I know it’s hard and people are getting fed up but we can do this a little longer. Work on your lawns, gardens and garages and have fun doing some beautiful creations. Keep busy and be happy.
