Now that spring is in full swing, everyone wants to get outdoors. Especially in these times, we want to make sure we’re in good health and getting out is a great way to keep in shape. However, it’s not just humans that need regular care to keep in good health.
While it may not be as obvious as winter precautions, spring car care is vital to make sure your car has a long and healthy life.
Gaetan Fortin is the owner of NAPA AUTOPRO Service d’auto G. Fortin Inc. His two-garage auto body repair shop is located in Luskville, right off Hwy. 148. Interestingly, with the pandemic in place, Fortin noted that a new issue has arisen.
“With the COVID, people haven’t been moving too much so we’ve been seeing a lot of brake problems,” he said.
Fortin said the best time to remedy this issue is when you bring your car in for regular tune ups, and specifically when your winter tires are replaced by regular ones.
“In the springtime, when we do winter tire changes, we always recommend for people to do brake service, like clean up and lube up everything. While we have the wheels off in the spring it’s the best time to do it.”
He also highly recommended that the best thing you can do to keep your car in tip-top shape is to, much like human health, simply bring it in for check ups every so often to make sure everything is running smoothly.
“Sometimes there’s brake fluids to change, and stuff like that, but that’s just regular, periodic maintenance.”
So while current health guidelines encourage people to stay home, going for a drive would be a good way to keep both you and your car’s health up.
