Pontiacer and community leader Greg Graham was invited to speak at Youth 4 Youth Quebec’s The Sense of Belonging Forum online panel on March 11. The panel saw representatives from different regions of Quebec come together and explain what it meant to belong in their communities. Graham is the . . .

manager of continuing education at Cégep Heritage College, co-owner of Coronation Hall and president of the Pontiac Community Players. In his portion, he explained that the people of the Pontiac have a strong connection with music.

“As a good example, in the local town of Shawville, at the Anglican church they have a real strong tradition of impromptu Irish hoolies where everybody comes with their instruments and play all afternoon. It’s become a kind of second church service,” he said with a laugh.

He also mentioned that English speaking Quebec communities have a further common connection, and that living in the Pontiac should not be something to be ashamed about.
