MUNICIPALITY OF PONTIAC Feb. 3, 2021
The MRC des Collines police recovered a snowmobile on Feb. 3 that went missing on Jan. 24 after being left along the Ottawa River south of Charron Beach, in the Municipality of Pontiac.
After police published a Feb. 2 Facebook post detailing how a man was . . .
forced to abandon the vehicle and leave on foot before discovering the next day that it was gone, a nearby resident reached out to let police know that they saw the snowmobile near the shore.
The snowmobiler was forced to leave his vehicle after experiencing a mechanical issue. It is unclear for how long the snowmobile was on shore when the citizen called the police, but an officer was sent to recover the stolen vehicle. It was returned to its owner on Feb. 3, according to MRC des Collines spokesperson Sgt. Martin Fournel.
“Someone was identified that took the snowmobile from the river, not the one that informed us but someone else that [lives] nearby,” Fournel explained in an email, adding that they were not able to press charges.
