Wow! It is the week of Christmas already. I can’t believe how fast the year has flown by even though some days it felt like time stood still. What a crazy year it has been.
The Municipality of Pontiac in conjunction with the Quyon Community Day Committee have had the residents of our municipality decorating this year to Light Up the Town and I must say the lights in Quyon this year have been wonderful.
This past Friday they announced . . .
the winners of their decorating contest. Congratulations to Debbie Kingsbury, Pierre Alary and Yannick Robinet and the Assels-Bond family for earning the prizes which were donated by citizens of the municipality and Casse-Croute Rocky. I was especially pleased to see Debbie’s name as one of the winners because I have such fond memories of being at their place in December for her daughter Johanne’s birthday parties when we were kids. The house was always decorated to the nines and I just loved it. Kudos to all who took part and to all who organized this initiative to bring a little fun to a very different Christmas.
Congratulations to Bart Stanley as he officially retired last Friday. His co-workers surprised him by coming up and decorating his house and also bringing him cake and gifts. Enjoy your retirement Bart.
We were saddened to hear last week that Kevin Trudeau passed away. He had been living in Edmonton, Alta. and had been ill for some time. I have such great memories of Kevin performing in the Murder Mysteries. He rarely missed one. Condolences to his family and friends.
The Quyon Ferry has announced that their last day of service for the season will be Dec. 23. This is the latest date of operation ever. Wishing the ferry staff a relaxing off-season and we can’t wait to see them again on the river in the spring.
Big birthday wishes are going out to former Quyon boy Don Reynolds as he is turning 80 on Christmas eve. Happy birthday to Adalyne Young celebrating on Christmas Day, to Leah Côté on Dec. 28, to Glenda Nitschke on Dec. 29 and to my sister, Kara who celebrates on New Year’s Eve. Happy birthday to Eric Provost on Jan. 2, to Sherri-Lynn Foran on Jan. 3, to Gracie Côté and Stephanie Provost on Jan. 4, and to Kelsey Stanley on Jan. 5. Best wishes to all who will be celebrating over the next few weeks.
As this is my last column of the year, I’d like to take the opportunity to thank all of THE EQUITY readers for checking out the Quyon social notes each week. Special thanks to all who submit little tidbits to me throughout the year as well. It has been a difficult year but I have reason to hope that there are brighter days ahead in 2021 and I wish that for each and every one of you as well. Have a very Merry Christmas and happy New Year to all.
